I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.
Watching other people succeed can be tough. Especially, when they’re leaving the company you work at and have a good relationship with them. I’ve had this happen to me recently. Someone I’ve worked with who joined the company a few months before I did, is leaving at the end of the month. I boo’d at him in a friendly manner and then congratulated him. I’m happy he’s moving on to something else. Along with that I do hope I get an opportunity to work with him again.
I like golf for this reason. It’s not us against each other. It’s us against the course. I hear and also provide a lot of encouraging words for the people I play with. The games tough and we all need a little encouragement for good and bad shots. I got my first birdie recently. I happened to get it right before my buddy was putting. He was also going for birdie in a similar spot. He missed his shot and gave me a fist bump right after. He then texted one of our other friends announcing the accomplishment. That’s a great friend.
