I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.
Self-awareness is the theme in this stoic. It’s from a sense that emotions and optimism can drive us to certain conclusions that aren’t correct. One of my favorite phrases is perception is reality. We all see things differently. We make our own assertions on things based on past experiences and current experiences. Yesterday I got an email from my bosses bosses about an email I sent out. I had a feeling of dread that I had screwed up, because last week I had screwed. Email is toneless and hardly reflects what people are actually feeling or saying at the time they sent the email. I had to take a step back and remind myself of that. The email I had sent out was part of my job and not something to dread.
