I am blogging everyday (or nearly everyday) on The Daily Stoic.
I’ve grown up with stories of war. They always intrigued me. I’ve read a lot on World War II. I’ve read a lot on other wars as well via Bernard Cornwell. Those are all fictional but based in those time. At one point I wanted to join the military to go to war. That didn’t happen especially after 9/11 happened less than a year into service. I volunteered a couple times to go overseas. It wouldn’t have been in a fighting capacity.
That has left me with a bit of hole in my self-evaluation. If I had fought, how would I have responded with bravery or cowardice? Would it have cost my life to find that out? In my life I haven’t run from problems. I’m often the one that tries to think of solutions even if it means doing something that sucks. I would hope that leads to some sort of bravery and not cowardice.
